International normalized ratio

Abbreviated INR, this system was created due to a collaborative effort of the World Health Organization and the International Committee on Thrombosis and Hemostasis in order to accurately report the results of blood clotting tests. It is defined by the prothrombin time ratio, which is expressed as a person's prothrombin time divided by the mean of the prothrombin time reference interval.
