Inversion of chromosomes

A chromosomal abnormality caused by a double breakage in one of the segments of that chromosome. The broken segment rotates 180° and then reinserts itself back into the chromosome, causing this part of the DNA sequence to be reversed, which may result in certain genes being deleted or duplicated.
